I've always had a passion for hair in all colors, and textures! In 2005, I received my formal education from Central Kentucky Technical College. I'm also a recognized Board Certified Cosmetologist for the states of Kentucky and Ohio. I'm also a registered member of the National Cosmetology Association and Cosmetologist Chicago. Traveling to Manhattan, I've completed the Redken Hair Color Certification Exam in the fall of 2008.
Since 2005, I've had numerous opportunities to train with the industries top stylists. Philip Pelusi is one of the pioneers in phyto-hair care, or plant based hair care. Having studied at his S.P.A.C.E. academy in Pittsburgh, PA, Philip Pelusi, himself taught Volumetric. Volumetric is a patented hair cutting system that allows me to customize hair cuts based on the texture of your hair! There are currently very few stylists in the area that have had this formal training.
In the summer of 2012 I aquired my Hair Loss Specialist Certification from Toni Love's Training Center in Atlanta, Ga. This certification allows me to work alongside dermatologists and oncologists within the community.
Patric Bradley, James Harris and Rob Willis are also some of the other celebrity stylists I've trained with as well. I wouldn't be where I am now with out the support of my AMAZING and UNSELFISH mentors Katherine Van Hook, Carla Core-Johnson, and Ladosha Wright!
With experience in fashion events for commercial and pageants I've been able to work alongside TLC's co-host of "What NOT to Wear" Clinton Kelly. Assisting him in coming up with a look for a run way show held at Macy's. With the experience of styling the hair of former Ms. Kentucky Monica Hardin, I've been able to assist with other pageants like the Kentucky Jr. Miss.
My job is part art and part science, but it's something that I LOVE to do! Allow me, Melanie Day, to be YOUR "curly hair stylist"!
